Import your Twitter Follows to Mastodon

Getting started with Mastodon can be a bit difficult if we don't know exactly how to start or where to find interesting people to follow. In this article, we are going to make this transition a bit easier and "cheat" by letting you bring the people you follow on Twitter into the Fediverse.

This service is provided only for users that have an account on our Mastodon main instance. If you want to do it from your server, reach out to support.

It's a prerequisite that you have an active account on Mastodon. If you don't have an account yet, check out our access plans and sign up for any plan that provides you Mastodon access. All of our access plans come with a free 14-day trial period, no payment required.

If you have access to a Mastodon account, your dashboard should show something similar to the image below:

Dashboard - Connect to Mastodon

Click on the "Connect" link, which will lead you to a page where you can authorize our portal site to do things on your account on your behalf.

Mastodon - OAuth authorization page

After clicking "Authorize", you will be redirected back to your dashboard at the portal, and this time you should be able to see the "Explore Integrations" link.

Mastodon - Connected

Clicking this link will show you the list of available integrations that you can do.

Mastodon - Available Integrations

After you click on the link, all you need is to provide your twitter handle. We will then do the following:

The whole process can take some time, but you should be seeing updates in real time about all the accounts that have been successfully added to your Mastodon account.

This service is still in beta. Due to Twitter's recent changes in their API, you might see lots of profiles failing to be added properly. If you run this importer and get too many errors, please be patient and *do not* try again.
